Rybrevant® (amivantamab)
Rybrevant (amivantamab) is a prescription medication designed to treat certain adults with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) whose tumors have specific genetic alterations in the EGFR gene.It is a bispecific antibody that targets both EGFR (epidermal growth factor receptor) and MET (mesenchymal-epithelial transition factor) pathways, which can contribute to tumor growth and survival.
Description
Rybrevant® (amivantamab)
Targeted therapy for specific forms of non-small cell lung cancer
Overview
Rybrevant® (amivantamab) is a prescription medication designed to treat certain adults with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) whose tumors have specific genetic alterations in the EGFR gene.
It is a bispecific antibody that targets both EGFR (epidermal growth factor receptor) and MET (mesenchymal-epithelial transition factor) pathways, which can contribute to tumor growth and survival.
Indication
Rybrevant® is indicated for the treatment of adult patients with locally advanced or metastatic NSCLC with:
- EGFR exon 20 insertion mutations
- Disease progression on or after platinum-based chemotherapy
Use is based on confirmed genetic testing of the tumor.
How Rybrevant Works
Rybrevant® is a bispecific antibody that binds to two key cancer-driving receptors:
- EGFR: involved in cell growth and division
- MET: involved in tumor cell survival and resistance pathways
By blocking these pathways, Rybrevant® helps inhibit cancer cell growth and may help slow disease progression.
Administration
Rybrevant® is given as an intravenous (IV) infusion in a healthcare setting under the supervision of a qualified healthcare professional.
Key points:
- Initial doses may take longer due to step-up dosing
- Premedication may be given to reduce infusion-related reactions
- Treatment schedule is determined by a healthcare provider
Important Safety Information
Infusion-Related Reactions
Infusion-related reactions are common, especially during the first dose. Symptoms may include:
- Fever or chills
- Nausea
- Shortness of breath
- Flushing or low blood pressure
Patients are closely monitored during infusion.
Other Possible Side Effects
Common side effects may include:
- Rash
- Nail changes
- Fatigue
- Swelling in the hands or feet
- Constipation or diarrhea
Serious side effects may occur. Patients should contact their healthcare provider if symptoms worsen or are severe.
Warnings & Precautions
Rybrevant® should be used with caution in patients with:
- History of severe infusion reactions
- Lung or breathing problems
- Skin reactions requiring medical attention
Regular monitoring is recommended during treatment.
Genetic Testing Matters
Treatment with Rybrevant® requires confirmation of EGFR exon 20 insertion mutations. Molecular testing helps ensure the right treatment is matched to the right patient.
Patient Support & Information
Patients receiving Rybrevant® may have access to:
- Treatment guidance resources
- Infusion support programs
- Educational materials about NSCLC and genetic testing
Speak with a healthcare provider for available support options.
Talk to Your Doctor
If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with NSCLC, ask your healthcare provider about biomarker testing and whether Rybrevant® may be an appropriate treatment option.
