Epidaza (Tucidinostat/Chidamide)
Epidaza is an oral, subtype-selective histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor used in the treatment of certain hematological malignancies and advanced cancers.
Description
Epidaza (Tucidinostat/Chidamide)
Generic Name
Tucidinostat (also known as Chidamide)
Brand Name
Epidaza®
Therapeutic Class
Histone Deacetylase (HDAC) Inhibitor
Description
Epidaza is an oral, subtype-selective histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor used in the treatment of certain hematological malignancies and advanced cancers. It works through epigenetic regulation by inhibiting HDAC enzymes, leading to changes in gene expression, cell-cycle arrest, apoptosis (programmed cell death), and enhanced anti-tumor immune responses.
Mechanism of Action
Tucidinostat selectively inhibits HDAC1, HDAC2, HDAC3, and HDAC10. HDAC inhibition increases histone acetylation, resulting in chromatin remodeling and activation of tumor suppressor genes. This process suppresses tumor cell proliferation and promotes apoptosis.
Indications
Epidaza is approved in China for:
- Relapsed or refractory Peripheral T-Cell Lymphoma (PTCL).
- Hormone receptor-positive (HR+), HER2-negative advanced or metastatic breast cancer in combination with endocrine therapy in appropriate patients.
Dosage and Administration
Epidaza is administered orally. The dosage and treatment schedule should be determined by a qualified oncologist based on the patient’s disease condition, treatment response, and tolerability.
Common Adverse Effects
- Thrombocytopenia (low platelet count)
- Neutropenia
- Leukopenia
- Anemia
- Fatigue
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Decreased appetite
- Diarrhea
Patients should undergo regular hematologic monitoring during treatment.
Precautions
- Monitor complete blood counts regularly.
- Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment.
- Women of childbearing potential should use effective contraception during treatment.
- The safety of Epidaza during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been established.
Storage
Store according to the manufacturer’s recommendations and keep out of reach of children.
